"Queensryche "Operation Mindcrime" (sorry, the little metal head in me still breathes)"

great pick! during a short-lived metal phase i once went through, that album was a regular in my rotation. tate has one of the greatest voices of all time. i rarely listen to metal anymore, but occasionally i am in the mood, and it always is enjoyable and brings me back to some good times.

i'll also throw in:
number of the beast
powerslave
screaming for vengeance
rust in peace
kill 'em all
blizzard of ozz

although they are not really considered with bands like metallica, priest and maiden, deep purple was one of the earliest forms of metal, and has always been my favorite metal band, if you can call them that. machine head is one of the greatest albums ever made. deep purple fucking rules live. seen them a few times, and they were impressive even in their old age. i would do anything to have seen them in their prime. ian gillan is one of my favorite vocalists ever. child in time always gave me chills. as did his version of gethsemane, from jesus christ superstar.

I saw the Powerslave tour at Radio City, but I dont really have the desire to listen to Maiden anymore. Ozzy is the king as far as I'm concerned and I like Diary of a Madman the best (and Speak of the Devil for the Sabbath stuff). Unleashed in the East is my favorite Priest album. I've got to go with Master of Puppets for Metallica's best but I like Kill em All as well.

Rainbow Rising is Blackmore's best metal stuff.
